Such control a heart does have on one's life, one's feelings, one's being. To have a heart yearn for something it cannot obtain is the worse pain it can experience. I've known this pain all too well throughout my life, wanting something, someone that I cannot reach, no matter how I try to grasp it. So often in my darkest times, a star shines, hovering just before me, but as I reach out for it, it pulls away, staying just out of reach. I run faster and faster, but it still evades me. Sometimes I swear it's even mocking me, allowing me to believe I can catch it only to slip away again. I feel that way now, seeing a star that shines so brightly, yet casts such a deep shadow over my heart. I just want to hold the star in my hand, feel its warmth engulf me, but I fear I shall never catch it.
